IGNOU to Offer Scholarships to Poor Students

    The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has plans to offer scholarships for children from economically backward class, revealed the Vice Chancellor of the University, M Aslam, on 26 January 2014.  The scholarship will shortly be announced by the IGNOU, said Aslam.

    He also said that the IGNOU is even mulling over making education free for such students, if they seek admissions to IGNOU courses.

    The Vice Chancellor, M Aslam has made this information public while speaking on the occasion of the Republic Day celebration at the IGNOU campus.

    Among other upcoming plans of IGNOU includes the setting up of a Kendriya Vidyalaya school and a playground for children of IGNOU employees so that children in the complex don't have to go too far for education.
