IGNOU to start Application Process with Four New Courses

    For January 2015 session, the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has started the application process with inclusion of four new courses. Registrar of the student registration division of IGNOU, SK Sharma said, “This year, we have launched an MA in translation studies, a certificate in French language, a postgraduate diploma in applied statistics and a certificate for professional development of primary teachers. Additionally, a student support centre has been set up at the headquarters from where students can obtain the prospectus and other information.”

    The university has quite a lot of programmes on offer for the students who apply for the distance courses from all over the nation. The programmes includes following subjects:

    • MA in Philosophy; MA Gandhi and Peace Studies
    • MA extension and development studies
    • MA education; MA anthropology
    • MA gender and development studies
    • Master of social work
    •  Master of social work(counseling)
    • MA Economics
    • MA in English
    • MA in Hindi
    • MA in History
    • MA in Political Science
    • MA in Psychology
    • MA in Public Administration
    • MA in Rural Development
    • MA in Sociology
    • MA in Tourism Management
    • MA in Adult education
    • MA in women’s and gender studies
    • Master of Computer applications
    • Master of Library and Information sciences
    • MSc dietetics and food services management and
    • MSc counseling and family therapy

    The university, along with taking admissions in above mentioned Masters Courses, is inviting applications for giving away Bachelor’s Degree as well. There are courses like BSc Major in Physics, Chemistry, Maths, Botany or Zoology that are on offer. In Arts there are options from BA major in Hindi, English, Urdu, Economics, History, Philosophy, Psychology, Public Administration, Political science or Sociology to choose from. There are courses like BA in Tourism Studies, Bachelor of Computer Applications, Bachelor of Library and Information Science, Bachelor of Social work and BBA in retailing are available in the university to train students for the job market.

    Apart from these courses the admission is on for various PG Diplomas, Diplomas, Advanced Certificate, Post Graduate Certificate and Certificate and Postdoctoral Certificates.
