IIM Nagpur Summer Placement Report 2018: Highest stipend at 1.8 Lakhs
IIM Nagpur Summer Placement Report 2018 is finally out. MBA students from IIM Nagpur have bagged the highest stipend package of Rs 1.8 lakhs in the summer placement drive.
IIM Nagpur – one of the more recent additions to the prestigious B-school chain, completed the summer placement for their third batch of Post Graduate Program in Management - PGP 2017-19 students. The MBA summer placement drive at IIM Nagpur concluded on 3rd January 2018 with over 50 recruiters from different sectors, industries and domains hiring management talent from the B-school. Many among the 50 recruiters who participated in the IIM Nagpur Summer Placement process were also first time recruiters from the B-school.
This year, the B-school saw participation of recruiters from a diverse array of industries and sectors such as FMCG, Analytics, IT Consulting, BFSI, Consumer Durables, Logistics, Media and Broadcasting. As far as roles which dominated the summer placement drive are concerned, Consulting, Marketing and Analytics emerged at the top. BFSI emerged as the top hiring sector, followed by Logistics and FMCG.
MBA Placement Highlights
As far as key highlights of IIM Nagpur Summer Placement 2018 are concerned, the one that dominated the entire report was the stipend amount figures. As per the summer placement report, the B-school students bagged highest stipend offer of Rs 1.8 lakhs whereas the average stipend package for the institute stood at Rs.60,176. Like last three years, IIM Nagpur saw a steady rise in the number of recruiters visiting or participating in the summer placement programme at the B-school. Known brands and industry leaders which participated in the placement drive include Reliance Jio Studios, Yes Bank, BPCL, ICICI Lombard, GroupM, TATA Power, Blue Star, VLCC, Capacloud, Mahindra Logistics, Sutherland Global, Gati and TVS. IIM Nagpur Summer Placement 2018 programme also saw participation from firms working in social sectors as well. Teach for India and Tata Trusts were the two key players in this sector.
Top Executives to guide students
This year, several top or senior executives also participated in the summer placement drive at the B-school indicating increasing trust and co-operation between the industry and the institute. Top executives from companies like Fractal Analytics, HDFC AMC, TCS, JPMorgan Chase, HUL, Marico, Godrej, and Stellar Value Chain also conducted open seminars and lectures as part of the summer placement programmes.
MOU for Case Studies
Taking a step further in their industry-interface programme, IIM Nagpur also signed an MOU with one of its leading recruiters to develop case studies to help students better understand specific business problems and arrive at contemporary and practical solutions for the same. Once published, these business case studies developed in collaboration with recruiters will become an integral part of academic study at the B-school. Going forward, other recruiters also might join in this initiative to resolve business problems through B-school case studies.
Talking about this unique initiative Prof. Rahul Kumar Sett, Chairperson, Career Development Services (CDS) at IIM Nagpur said ““The idea is to blur the boundary between academia and industry. We have a lot to learn from the industry and a lot to contribute to the industry at the same time; it is a partnership that can have a range of positive effects on contemporary management education.”

Commenting upon the successful completion of the IIM Nagpur Summer Placement 2018, the institute director Prof. L S Murty said that “IIM Nagpur is deeply committed to contribute to the supply of high quality managerial resource to the industry besides creation of contextually relevant knowledge base.”
Talking about the vision of IIM Nagpur Mr Murty said ““We intend to make management education contemporary again, in line with the requirements of today’s industry. The vicissitudes of the innovation economy are making traditional management thinking obsolete at a rapid pace.”
