Among the top list of universities ranked by QS World University Rankings there might not be trace of Indian Universities but specific departments of these universities have certainly made it to the top 100 list globally. Among the universities from India Delhi University is topping the list with scoring highest rank among the 20 Indian Universities that have made the cut to the list. DU is placed in the 17th rank globally for the department of development studies.
In the list of top 100 universities, nine Indian institutes have made it to the mark and that too within nine disciplines. Among the 36 subject tables the universities of India has secured 107 places in the list including the six new disciplines which were launched in 2015 namely, architecture, arts and design, business studies, dentistry, development studies and veterinary science.
IIT Bombay has made it to the list most of the times. IIT Delhi has also registered five of its department among the top 100 while Jawaharlal Nehru University has secured one subject in the list. According to media coordinator of DU, “This is a reflection of the progress made by Delhi University in four years. Rankings have improved in several disciplines. If we can keep up the momentum, we would be placed even higher next year.”
Among the new subjects that got included in recent sessions, Shanmugha Arts Science Technology and Research Academy, Thanjavur has also made it to the list with Art and design subject. For materials science and electrical and electronic engineering Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore has also made it to the list.
Shockingly none of the B-schools in the nation could make it to the list for business and management studies. The top ranks in this subject table were shared by IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Bangalore and IIT Delhi.
