IIT Kharagpur Young Innovators Program 2019: Online registrations open for classes 8 to 10

Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur has started the online registrations for the Young Innovators Programme (YIP). This is the third edition of the program which works with a vision to expose young creative students to the cycle of innovation. The online applications for the program have begun on 18 July 2019, and students can apply for the same until 9 August 2019.
Eligibility for Young Innovators Program 2019
Students of classes 8 to 10 from schools across the country can apply for YIP 2019. Those selected will get a chance to visit IIT Kharagpur campus and would have the opportunity to receive guidance from faculty members, researchers and students of the largest IIT of the country.
Theme for Young Innovators Program 2019
The theme areas for the participating students for the YIP 2019 are as follows:
- Energy and Environment
- Health and Cleanliness
- Hardware Modelling
- Product Designing
- Disaster Management
- Financial Inclusion
Procedure of Application
The principal of school needs to nominate a teacher who will be given a user ID and password for registration of the students. The students will form a team of 2-3 members and submit their names and details to the coordinating teacher of the school. One school can register up to 6 teams.
Students will be required to pay the registration fees of Rs. 100 per student.
Procedure of selection
The round 1 of submission will start from 23 July onwards wherein students will be required to submit their project based on the chosen theme.
Students, who get shortlisted for the second round, will be required to present the enhanced version of their project through video demonstrations.
Then the semifinal and final rounds will be held at IIT Kharagpur from November 8-9, 2019, wherein the selected students will demonstrate the working models of products and processes and make feasibility presentation on their projects.
Young Innovators’ Program is a platform to foster young minds with scientific enthusiasm and a credo to solve the problems facing the globe.
