The most awaited educational institute, Indian Institute of Technology, Patna (IIT-P) would see its permanent campus soon in Bihta on July 25, as it would get inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself. The educational institute is one among the six new IITs that there announced by the central government. Apart from inaugurating the campus PM would address a public rally in Muzzafarpur on the same day.
The IIT Patna is presently functioning in its temporary campus at Patliputra. The shifting of the classrooms, laboratory and other infrastructure is taking place at the moment to the new campus. The registration and induction process for admission of new candidates would take place on-campus from July 22 onwards. The classes of the new batch for the 2015-16 would commence from July 26 in the new campus. The temporary campus in which IIT Patna is functioning has presently 80 faculty members who handle 970 students. For undergraduate B.Tech programme, the institute can intake 200 students every year in five disciplines.
The Human Resource and Development ministry has said that the inauguration was supposed to take place in June 29, but the shifting of infrastructure and delay in construction at the new campus further delayed the process.
