Implementation of Education Schemes to be checked by Government

Apr 30, 2015 15:55 IST

In order to make sure that the Centre’s launched schemes for education are implemented at district level, the Maharashtra government has decided to constitute a panel. This panel would look into the matter of children’s enrolment in various schools as well as monitor the performances of students of those schools.

According to government resolution, “There are various schemes of the Central government like Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (Education for All), Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (National Mission for Secondary Education), Shaley Poshan Ahar (Mid-Day Meal scheme) and Saakar Bharat (Educational options for those adults, who have lost the opportunity and crossed the age of formal education). According to the Centre’s rules, changes are made in these schemes periodically.”

According to the education department officials, there were quite a few committees had been constituted beforehand at district levels but there was no proper co-ordination between them. This panel would help the committees of the district level and urge them to present their reports.

Officials from the Zilla Parishad, Education committee of the municipal corporation and primary and secondary education officers will also be on the panel. Along with them there would be Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha MPs, MLAs and MLCs, who would be primary members of the committee. The Chairman of the committee would be decided upon the experience and age of the Lok Sabha member (as part of the panel), while the deputy chairman would get elected by the penal members only.
