27 February

•    As per the data released by CSO, India’s economic growth rate dipped to 6.1% in October-December quarter of 2011-12 due to poor performance of the manufacturing, mining and farm sectors
•    As per the data released by CAG, fiscal deficit stood at Rs 4.34 lakh crore, or 105 per cent of the total annual target in the April-January period of 2011-12

1 March
•    The Union Cabinet approved the proposal of Ministry of Agriculture, Department of Agricultural Research and Education for Extension of Closing Date of NAIP up to 30 June 2014
•    Cabinet Committee on Infrastructure approved the upgradation of Railway Infrastructure for introduction of multi-modal transport system (Phase - II) in twin cities of Hyderabad and Secundrabad
•    Air Marshal Rajinder Singh AVSM VM took over as Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Training Command, Bangalore.

2 March
•    The two day India-Africa Science & Technology Ministers’ Conference concluded with announcement of a joint Declaration
•    Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports approved the participation of Indian Under-14 Table Tennis team for ITF 14 and under Championship to be held in Philippines from 12 -18 March 2012

3 March
•    Two day Conference on ‘Issues and Challenges in the Development of Women and Children of Backward Classes including Backward Classes of Religious Minorities conducted by the Ministry of Women & Child Development concluded in New Delhi
