Giving high hopes to all the concerned teachers and authorities of higher education, the University Grants Commission (UGC) has given nod for setting up of an inter-university centre for teacher’s education which would come up at Banaras Hindu University (BHU). The foundation stone of the centre would be laid by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his proposed visit to Varanasi on December 25. The UGC cleared the proposal in their commission meeting on Monday and give it a go.
December 25 is celebrated as the ‘Good Governance Day’ this year throughout the country and the birthday of former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee would be celebrated on the day. The centre is expected to function as an autonomous body and more information regarding the functionaries of the centre could be known once the Prime Minister would visit the campus to lay the foundation stone on December 25. The proposed centre would be named after the legendary leader Late Madan Mohan Malviya.
Following the trend of giving institutes and programmes names of various schlorary and influential leaders, the commission has decided to name the proposed Knowledge Acquisition and Upgradation of Skilled Human Abilities and Livelihood (KAUSHAL) programme to be named after RSS ideologue Deen Dayal Upadhyay. There would be 100 such centres that are planned to come up throughout the country and it would coordinate the entire skill development efforts of higher educational institutions.
