International Training Post-Harvest Management of Cotton Inaugurated

    An elaborate two week Training cum Exposure Program on “Post Harvest Management of Cotton and Value Addition to Crop Residue” under the technical assistance program (TAP) for Cotton for select African countries such as Benin, Burkina Faso, Chad, Mali and Malawi, Nigeria and Uganda was inaugurated at Ginning Training Centre of Central Institute for Research on Cotton Technology (CIRCOT), Nagpur on 13 January 2013.

    The program is being supported by the Department of Commerce, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India for the cotton sector in the countries mentioned and is aiming at providing support and solution, that is country specific related to production, processing and value addition to cotton.

    The program also intends to strengthen the human resource in post harvest management of cotton and in use of the crop residue in the mentioned countries.

    Also, to note , the training cum exposure program is being organized by the ICAR (Indian Council of Agricultural Research ).
