What happens when you don’t carry the important things along with you for a job interview? You get embarrassed in front of the interview panel. However, under the nervousness and pressure of appearing for a job interview, candidates often forget key things that are required during a job interview. Apart from putting pressure upon you, forgetting important things for a job interview might also give a bad impression about you before the interviewer.

Being prepared when you reach for your interview is a must. Never show up empty-handed. Follow our easy checklist and make sure that you have everything you need:

  • Resume: Your Resume is the first and the most crucial introduction for the interviewer. It lays the ground for the upcoming interview. So, always carry two copies of your resume or CV.

  • Cover Letter: Cover Letter is the document you prepare justifying your suitability for the job profile you are applying for. Therefore, carrying a separate cover letter which justifies your job application is a must carry item as well.

  • Water-proof File or Folder: India is country with diverse climate and you never know when it might start raining. Therefore, always carry a water-proof file or folder to keep all your important documents. This will keep your documents safe and help you to keep them organized to present before the interviewer.

  • Pen: While it sounds obvious, many candidates going for a job interview often forget to carry this basic item. Pens are very important to fill out the employment form or just to even sign important documents. Therefore, carrying a pen is a must when it comes to job interview.

  • Notepad: You and your interviewer are locked in a brief strategic talk. You reach a point in discussion where the interviewer suddenly ask you to note down certain important things. If you don’t have a notepad, it would end up in an awkward situation. To avoid this, always carry a notepad to job interviews. It shows your professionalism and preparedness.

  • References: Before going to face interviewers, find out at least three persons who can guarantee your capability, professional behaviour, and hard work to work. Get printed copy of their full name, number, addresses, and relationship with you after finalising the references. Carry it to interviews you face.

  • Address and Directions to Interview Location: Finding the right location or addresses has become much easier today, thanks to Google Maps and other navigation apps; at times you might find yourself lost, especially in remote areas. Therefore, always carry proper address and direction to the interview location. 

  • Your Work Portfolio: In job interviews today, you will have to not only present or highlight your accomplishments but also showcase some of your previous work. Therefore, always carry a portfolio of your past work. It will help you strengthen your case before the interviewer.
