Job Placements Witnesses a Colossal Rise at SRM University

    The placement season is on and every college or university is eyeing for companies that are giving more opportunities to their students. In the race SRM University, Kattankulathur, has left many universities behind as from here three major IT firms have offered jobs to 3,689 students on the very first day of campus interview sessions.

    For the batch of 2015, three major IT firms in India, Cognizant, Infosys and Wipro together offered this record number of placements from SRM University on the very first day. The SRM Group of Institutions Managing Director, P. Sathyanarayanan stated, “While Cognizant made 1520 job offers, Infosys offered 1105 and Wipro 1082 jobs to the students. All these placements were offered in a single day of the campus recruitment drive that began a couple of days ago”.

    Not only the companies provided such huge job opportunities to students of SRM University but they took care of the salary package as well by offering Rs. 3 lakh to Rs. 3.5 lakh per annum. The highest annual package of Rs. 5 million Japanese Yen (Rs. 33lakh approximately) was offered by a Japanese company named Works Applications, to a computer science final-year student Abhishek Gupta.

    The dean of placement S. Ganapthy pointed out, “Students from ECE, CSE and IT branches were the most sought after candidates by these IT firms”. Companies too were happy about the academic performance of the students and they encouraged the career development centre run by the university to train students and make them more industry-friendly.
