    KARTET 2018: The state government of Karnataka had accepted the online application form for KARTET 2018 @schooleducation.kar.nic.in from 5th December 2018 to 25th December 2018. KARTET exam is mandatory for those candidates, who want to become a teacher in Karnataka government schools. However, KARTET exam will not guarantee or offer any job after qualifying it.

    KARTET exam is a qualifying exam and after qualifying KARTET exam, you will be considered eligible in applying for teaching post in the Karnataka schools. With KARTET qualifying certificate, your candidature will be valid and you can further apply for the various schools as per the notifications. Through KARTET exam, candidates will be declared as a qualified teacher for the Classes I-VIII. Now, you can estimate the importance of this exam.     Karnataka TET (KARTET) Exam Pattern

    In KARTET exam, there will be two papers namely, Paper-1 and Paper-2.

    Paper-1: This paper is mandatory for those candidates, who intend to be a teacher for Classes I-V.

    Paper-2: while, this paper will be for those candidates, who want to teach students of Classes VI-VIII.

    In both papers, there will be 150 MCQs, each carrying one mark, with four options out of which only one option will be correct. In KARTET exam, there will be no negative marking. Besides this, if a candidate wants to teach the students of both levels (Class I-V and Class VI-VIII), then he has to appear in both papers. The time duration for both the papers will be 2 hours and 30 minutes.

    The complete details of KARTET syllabus is as follows-

    KARTET Paper-1 syllabus

    As shown in the above table, the KARTET Paper-1 will be mandatory for those candidates, who want to teach for Classes I-V.  All 5 subjects are mandatory for KARTET Paper-1 exam. Let us learn about the subject-wise complete syllabus of KARTET Paper-1 exam.

    a. Child Development & Pedagogy: The questions asked from this subject will primarily focus on the educational psychology of teaching & learning relevant to the age group of 6-11 years. The topics under this subject will be as follows-

     - Characteristics and need of diverse learners

     - Interaction with learners

     - Qualities and attributes of a good learning facilitator

    b. Language-I: The questions framed under this section will focus on the proficiency of the language related to the medium of instruction.

    c. Language-II: It will be other than Language-I and the questions will be focused on the elements of language, communication, and comprehension abilities.  A candidate can choose any language for Language-I and Language-II section but both languages must be different while filling up the online application form.

    d. Mathematics and Environmental Studies: The questions asked in this section will primarily focus on the

     - Mathematical concepts

     - Problem-solving abilities

     - Pedagogical understanding of both subjects

    Note: In all the above subjects of Paper-I, the questions to be asked will be same as prescribed in the NCERT/state board syllabus for Classes I-V. However, the difficulty level of the questions could be up to the secondary stage.

    KARTET Paper-2 syllabus

    In KARTET Paper-2 exam, there are 3 compulsory subjects, while remaining one subject depends upon the area of teaching specialization. Let us learn about the KARTET Paper-2 syllabus in detail-

    a. Child Development & Pedagogy: The questions from this subject in KARTET paper-2 exam will focus on educational psychology of learning and teaching relevant to the age group of 11-14 years. The topics under this subject will be as follows-

     -  Characteristics and need of diverse learners

     - Interaction with learners

     - Qualities and attributes of a good learning facilitator

    b. Language-I and II: The question in Language-I section will test the proficiency level of candidates in the language related to the medium of instruction while Language-II will focus on the elements of language, communication, and comprehension abilities. Language-I and II must be different from each other and candidates should be very careful about it during filling up the KARTET application form.

    c. Mathematics and Environmental Studies: The question in this section will be based on the-

    Note: The questions asked in the KARTET Paper-II exam will be based on the NCERT/State board syllabus for classes VI-VIII. However, the difficulty level of the questions will be of senior secondary level.
