The University of Madras has changed its admission procedure and now the students will receive admission to MBA and MCA based on the TANCET (Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test) 2014 scores, which will be conducted by the directorate of technical education of Tamil Nadu. The change will be effective from this academic year 2014-15.
A senior university official said that Supreme Court ruling has also said that the admissions to each technical and professional course in country will be made under one of the five approved common entrance tests.
With this new rule, candidates attempting TANCET will not have to buy separate application forms for admissions to the University of Madras; they can apply through a single window system now.
The varsity offers MCA and two streams of MBA programmes. The self-financed and regular MBA programmes have 45 to 50 seats each.
