Maharashtra State Board of Secondary Education declared Secondary School Certificate (X) Result on 13 June 2012 thereby ending the long wait of anxious students. SSC Result mark sheet was prepared on the Best-5 basis. Junior college admissions would also be finalised on the basis of Best-5 basis.

Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) operates through nine divisions: Mumbai, Pune, Kolhapur, Nagpur, Amravati, Aurangabad, Nasik, Latur and Konkan.

Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education is a statutory and autonomous body established under the Maharashtra Secondary Boards Act 1965 (amended in 1977).

The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary Education, Pune came into existence on  1 January 1966 to regulate certain matters pertaining to secondary education in the state of Maharashtra, India. The act was amended in 1977 and the name of the Board changed to its present name - The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education.

The board is to conduct the SSC and HSC examinations. The exams are conducted in March and results declared in June. The exams are conducted throughout the state of Maharashtra, and students studying in the Government-run High Schools are required to give this examination for further Secondary Education, for which the admission is given on the basis on merit.
