Anand Mahindra, a top class industrialist and businessman, who is the governor of the UWC (United World College) Mahindra College, has joined hands with investor Shelby Davis to announce a scholarship fund of whooping $12.5 million for the students who are in desperate need of financial assistance for their higher studies. The scholarship is targeted to help bright students to carry forward their education in foreign offshore universities.
The amount would get spent for the next five years for helping all the students who are in need for better education and to make them able to get access to UWC education. At each UWC college, four of the second year students would be named Davis-Mahindra International Scholars. For all the UWC students who would get in through this programme the Mahindra group has promised to shell out Rs. 6 crore over the period of five years. Half of the money would get spent on the Indian students while the other half would be there to help other international students.
Shelby Davis would provide a sum of $1.5 million each year of which $1 million would come as an additional funding helping over 100 American Students to UWC colleges, under Davis Scholarships. For the Davis International Scholarships he would provide the stipulated amount of half a million dollar to its students.
