- FMS follows semester system - Unlike the other MBA institutes that generally follow trimester system, FMS stick to its semester system to analyse the academic performance of the candidates. There are four semesters, each in each year in which student sit for the assessment.
- Vibrant Student culture - Students of FMS feel great about the fact the student community at the institute share cordial relations and work towards the betterment of the campus.
- Student Association - There is a student body in the institute named ‘Management Science Association’ (MSA) that organises cultural events and also coordinates the admission process and MBA placements on the campus. Kumar Ravi Ravi shares that at FMS student community is very cooperative towards each other. Unlike the IIMs where students constantly compete with each other, FMS doesn't share this culture on the campus. The highlights of student relations at FMS are:
- Peer-to-peer groups: Seniors help the juniors at full length and extend every possible help to make sure that the juniors continue the legacy of the institute.
- Alumni Interactions: The alumnus of the institute regularly visits the campus to interact with the current batch and update them with the latest industry trends and how they should prepare for the MBA placements.
This culture at FMS guides the candidates in right direction and student community takes pride in this unique feature of the campus. Tanmay Krishna Tanmay, student at FMS, says that academic culture of the FMS is quite rigorous. By this he means to indicate that the institute has adopted certain parameters and expect the students to adhere to them. Some of the parameters shared by Tanmay are:
- Focus on academics: FMS will rigorously train students in all the subjects and courses opted by them through a tight schedule. Specialisations in Finance, Marketing, Operations, HR, IT and other systems are offered to the candidates. They can choose any one of these in the second year of the course.
- Student community is conducive: Be it a student from Kerala or Kashmir, the student community embraces the diversity and whole-heartedly welcome everyone on the campus. This culture gives a sense of belongingness to the FMS aspirants coming from all parts of the country.
- Smaller batch size: Compared to other top MBA institutes like IIMs, at FMS, student community is more accommodating because the batch size is smaller and everyone gets a chance to interact with the others personally.
