Some of the candidates who made it to the elite list of the CAT 2017 toppers had some every unique profiles. One such candidate is 41 years old, Pattrick D’Souza. He has been running a coaching centre for CAT preparation in Mumbai for the past 14 years. Pattrick takes the CAT exam to understand the key changes introduced in the exam pattern and syllabus every year. He one of the 20 toppers of the CAT 2017 exam to have scored the perfect score of 100 percentile. This, however, wasn't the first time that Pattrick belled the CAT exam, he has achieved this feat thrice before. Pattrick scored a perfect 100 percentile previously in the CAT 2007, 2009 and 2016 exams.
He appears in the CAT exam only to get a hang of the changing exam pattern and syllabus and pass on his experience to his students. Pattrick D’Souza believes in challenging himself and always tries to put extra effort to run parallel with the prevailing trends in the education sector. This year, his overall score in the CAT 2017 was 246, and whereas the section wise scores were QA - 99.89 percentile (score 90 ) and DILR - 100 percentile (score 87.5).
Pattrick Educational Background
He hails from Mumbai and holds a B.Tech Degree in Mechanical Engineering from NIT Allahabad. He first appeared for the CAT in the year 1996 but failed to get into IIMs. Later, he cracked the MAH CET exam and pursed his management studies from Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies, Maharashtra and worked in the corporate sector for about 4 years after that.
He believes in moving ahead as there is no end to perfection. Therefore, he didn’t stop after scoring a 100 percentile in CAT exam and kept on appearing in them to quench his thirst to grow and hence guide his students. According to Pattrick, teaching is what gives him utmost joy as he thinks it’s a noble profession where students are groomed and trained to become management leaders of tomorrow.
He gave up his well-paid full-time job just to concentrate on teaching his students. Now, that’s a thing of appreciation. Meanwhile, he runs a full-fledged management tutorial academy in Dadar and Thane, Mumbai. The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho changed him and gave him a new direction in life. The book made him realize that nothing is impossible to achieve in this world if an individual thinks to do it passionately and honestly.
