Feb 26, 2013 11:48 IST

Adhering to its 4D principle of Desk, Dress, Discipline and Development, North Delhi Municipal Corporation introduced new uniforms for its students. The new uniform -- maroon red check shirt with coffee coloured pants for boys and maroon red check shirt with coffee coloured skirts for girls – have been designed by Indo-British Garments absolutely free of cost.
The new uniform will be distributed amongst 4.5 lakh students of 780 municipal schools by June 2013.
The company will manage distribution of uniform to the students through a store, selected by tender process on the requisition of principals of these schools.
Earlier, primary school students were given Rs.300 and secondary students were paid Rs.500 for uniform but it was noticed that they used the money for other expenses and did not buy uniforms. This initiative would assure that all the children get uniforms.
Ms. Gupta mentioned that many more ventures including better infrastructure and better education would be taken up soon to build future of the students.
