Co-operating with the John Hopkins University, USA, Indian Institute of Health Management (IIHM) Research University has decided to introduce a new Master’s Degree in Public Health. The programme is going to be initiated and incorporated from the next academic session where students can learn about the various norms of public health and take part in the overall development of the citizens.
The programme aims to create professionals who can take up the challenges in the field of public health management in various public and private sectors in our country. The training of the course would get conducted at the John Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, in their USA campus. The training would be the one term of the course (Intensive Course) while three fourth of the course would be taught in India. Among the 80 credits that the course consists, 30 would be taught by John Hopkins University faculty and the remaining 50 credits would be taught by IIHM faculty. The IIHM part of the course would start from January 2015. The degree would be awarded by the John Hopkins Bloomberg Scholl of Public Health.
"The programme is designed to focus on public health capacity building in developing countries and cultivate students' health management skills, so that they will be prepared to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of public health programs," IIHM release said.
