New Zealand is slowly becoming one of the highly preferred destination for those Indian students aspiring to go abroad. According to the recent reports, about 700% of increase in number of students from India was witnessed. From last year to this year January- July period, the number of student visas has increased by 123%.
New Zealand represents being a popular place for international students. About 12% of international students across the world come to the country for further studies. Indian students are also growing fast in numbers. Last year, a total of 11,984 Indian students were studying in New Zealand. Among them 38% were management and commerce student and 15% of them from information technology.
As per Immigration New Zealand Area Manager Nathanael Mackay, “NZ has become one of the top choices for the international students because of its place policies. The government of New Zealand has also changed some of the work rights programme that has attracted more international students to work and study together. This is creating a base on first world business experience while they study.”
Ziena Jalil, regional director of South and South East Asia said that ENZ has taken many initiatives to raise awareness of New Zealand as a study destination. The list includes institution visits, media programmes, digital campaigns, education fairs, scholarship opportunities and other events. She also added that ENZ has also launched new agent programme and also increased and expanded their presence in India. This has helped them to get a broader domain and reach towards western and southern states.
