    The NIACL conducted the Phase I exam for the selection of Administrative Officers (AO) Generalists and Specialists on 30 January 2019 across different centres of the country. NIACL AO Generalists and Specialists exam is a good opportunity for those candidates who want career in banking and insurance industry. To get selected for these posts, candidates are required to appear in the online exam and obtain the marks above the minimum overall cut-off and sectional cut off marks.

    In this article, we are going to provide the detailed exam analysis of NIACL AO Generalists and Specialists conducted on 30 January, 2019. Let’s have a look at the exam pattern of NIACL AO.

    Exam Pattern of NIACL AO 2018 (for Generalist and Specialist)

    As per the official notification, the NIACL AO Prelims exam comprised the objective questions with the sectional timing for each section. The Prelims Exam was conducted online and total marks were 100. The Prelims Exam was the same for all the posts of Company Secretary, Legal Officers, Finance & Accounts Officers and Generalists. The duration of the test was 1 hour and there were three sections which are as follows:

    All tests except the test of English Language were provided in English and Hindi both. Each test was separately timed i.e. the sectional timing was there for every test. Candidates could attempt questions of a particular section during the time allotted for that section only.

    All the questions had multiple choices. There was penalty for wrong answers marked by the candidates. For every wrong answer, 1/4th of the marks assigned to that question would be deducted as penalty.

    The scores of online exam will be obtained by adopting the following procedure:

    (i) Number of questions answered correctly by a candidate in each objective test is after applying penalty for wrong answers.

    (ii) The corrected scores so obtained by a candidate are made equivalent to take care of the minor difference in difficulty level, if any, in each of the objective tests held in different sessions to arrive at the equated scores.

    (iii) Test wise scores and scores on total is represented with decimal points up to two digits.

    The candidates need to qualify the Prelims Exam. The marks obtained in the Prelims Exam will not be considered for the merit. But the candidates have to clear the sectional and the overall cut off both to be considered for the Mains exam of NIACL AO.

    Since the job in NIACL is for the Specialist Officers, the Mains Exam is all about finding out how good the candidates are in their area of expertise. The Mains Exam is only about checking the professional knowledge of the candidates.

    Mains Exam will of Objective and Descriptive type. There will be 200 marks for the Objective test and 30 marks for the Descriptive Test. Both the tests will be online and Descriptive Test is to be typed on the computer. Here is the pattern of the exams:

    • The mode of question paper will be bilingual except English language.
    • The candidates need to qualify in each section to get shortlisted for the Interview and to get their Descriptive test evaluated.

    Salary and Job Profile of NIACL AO

    Mains Exam Descriptive Test (for Generalist and Specialist):

    The Descriptive Test will be of 30 minutes and for 30 marks. The test will be of Letter & Essay writing. The test will be in English and in online mode. 10 marks will be for letter writing and 20 marks will be for essay writing. The candidates need to qualify the descriptive test; but the marks in the descriptive test will not be considered for interview and final selection.

    After the Mains exam, there will be an interview. The weightage of online Exam and Interview will be 80:20. Final selection of the candidates is based on total marks obtained in the Main Exam & Interview.
