NIIT to Offer Master Degree Course in Cyber Security in Collaboration with PwC India

In order to help create a trained talented pool of personnel with cyber security knowledge, the NIIT University has joined hand with the major consultancy firm PwC India. A two year work-integrated specialized master’s programme in cyber security has been drafted by the academic experts of NIIT Uinversity and senior professionals of PwC India.
According to NIIT Group Chairman Rajendra S Pawar, “Cyber security market is currently at US $1 billion and is expected to grow to US $35 billion by 2025. The demand for skilled professionals in the space is very high coming from across industry sectors and government.” Industry led research, according to Rajendra is the key driver in the programme and the idea is to create a trained based on one mission certified and skilled cyber security professionals by the year 2025.
Pawar further said, “In today’s digitized environment, securing our cyberspace has become a priority for business and citizens across the world. This calls for a team of trained professional who can combat the challenges that are posed by hackers every day. Our partnership with PwC India is a step in that direction. We currently have around 300 people in this practice and will need to increase it tenfold to about 3000 people over the next 4-5 years.”
The course would focus on security analytics, threat intelligence, industrial control system and vulnerability analysis. Selection of the candidates for the course would be done by PwC India and NU jointly and expert faculty from within the firm and other industry practitioners would be made for delivery of the programme. After the programme gets over the candidates would be employed by PwC India and six month’s on-site training would be provided to the candidates in the second year of their course. The course fee for the entire programme is set to be Rs. 4 lakhs. Towards maintenance costs the PwC India would pay the students a scholarship amount throughout the period of two years of the programme. The first batch of the course would commence from July 2016. The candidates applying for the course must have four year’s Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering/Technology in computer science or IT or Master’s Degree in Computer Science/IT/Mathematics and Statistics from any recognized university/institute.
