    NMAT 2018 Selection Procedure is a very important part of the MBA entrance test as it outlines the process through which candidates will be selected for admission to MBA programmes offered by the participating B-schools. Currently, there is on ccentralized or uniform admission process followed by all the MBA colleges in India accepging NMAT score. However, candidates must know the basic steps involved in the NMAT 2018 selection procedure and the key events and their respective dates to prepare well for selection process. To help NMAT 2018 aspirants, the selection process has been discussed in detail below:

     

    NMAT 2018 – 4 Step Selection Process

    The NMAT 2018 exam selection process is a 4 step process. The process begins with the candidates appearing for the NMAT 2018 exam and ends with qualifying in the final merit list announced by the participating B-schools.

    The 4 step selection process for NMAT 2018 begins with candidates registering for the MBA entrance exam by filling up the online registration form and appearing for the NMAT 2018 MBA exam. This year, the NMAT by GMAC exam will be held from 4th October 2018 to 17th December 2018.

    NMAT 2018 exam results will be announced in the month of January. After that, respective participating B-schools will announce their NMAT 2018 cutoffs. Candidates will have to qualify in the NMAT exam cutoffs in order to proceed further in the selection process. Candidates must note that GMAC will share the NMAT 2018 scores with 5 B-schools selected by them during the registration process.

    In the third step, candidates will have to participate in the further screening rounds organized by the B-school. These include Group Discussion, Personal Interview and Written Ability Rounds.  

    The final selection of a candidate in the NMAT 2018 selection procedure will depend upon their performance in the further screening rounds conducted by the participating B-schools. The weightage for each of the component i.e. NMAT 2018 score, GD round, PI round and WAT round in the final selection process is also decided by the participating MBA college. 

    NMAT 2018 – Selection Process Dates

    Generally, the NMAT 2018 Selection Process begins after the declaration of results i.e. after 2nd week of January 2019. The selection process involves the following steps i.e.

    1. Sharing of NMAT 2018 exam scores by GMAC with participating B-schools
    2. Announcement of NMAT 2018 Cutoffs by the MBA colleges
    3. GD / PI / WAT rounds
    4. Declaration of Merit List by Participating B-schools
    5. Final MBA admission formalities

    The aforementioned steps for NMAT 2018 selection procedure are completed during the three month period starting from February 2019 to June 2019.

    NMAT 2018 Cutoff

    The NMAT 2018 Cutoffs will be announced by the respective B-schools. NMAT 2018 cutoff is the minimum NMAT 2018 score that a candidate has to achieve in order to be shortlisted for MBA admission process i.e. further screening rounds. The NMAT 2018 participating B-schools announce the NMAT by GMAC cutoff scores independently. The NMAT cutoff depends upon a variety of factors including:

    NMAT 2018 Admission – Selection Criteria

    The selection of a candidate by an MBA college accepting NMAT 2018 score will depend upon their NMAT MBA entrance exam score as well as on their performance in the further screening rounds i.e. Group Discussion, Personal Interview and Written Ability Test. To help candidates prepare well for the NMAT 2018 selection rounds, they can follow the some common tips listed below:

    Group Discussion

    Group Discussion round is the most common screening round that is conducted by the majority of the B-schools accepting the NMAT 2018 exam score as part of the selection process. For the Group Discussion round, the shortlisted candidates are divided into groups of 7 to 10 candidates and given a topic for discussion. The GD topics for NMAT 2018 screening process are quite diverse in nature and can range from current affairs issues, social topics, politics, sports, economic outlook, social events and other subjects. 

    The candidates’ performance in a group discussion round is judged on the basis of the following skills:

    • Leadership
    • Communication skills
    • Managerial Skills
    • Negotiation Skills
    • Personality

    Personal Interview

    The Personal Interview Round is the second most common screening round held as part of the screening process by the MBA colleges accepting NMAT score. The personal interview round is generally held as a panel discussion in which a panel of 3 to 4 senior interviewers will interview the candidates. During the personal interview, the interview panel tries to access candidate’s interest, future aspirations, and attitude and in general zeal towards management as a study domain and career choice. The panel also tries to track the academic profile and the personal life journey of the candidates.

    Candidates must keep in mind that the interview panel will closely look at their following skills:

    • Communication Skills
    • Confidence
    • Past Academic Records

    Written Ability Test

    The Written Ability Test or the WAT round is a new development which has become the part of NMAT selection procedure in the recent years. The WAT round is conducted only by a few B-schools and is aimed at testing the witting and communication skills of the candidates. During the WAT round, candidates are provided a topic on which they have to write an essay. Generally, the topic of the WAT Round is taken from contemporary happenings around us.

    NMAT 2018 - Documents Required for Admission

    After the completion of the NMAT 2018 exam screening rounds, the candidates who are selected for admission will have to complete the documentation process and admission formalities. Candidates must keep the following documents ready for the NMAT 2018 MBA admission process.  

    • NMAT 2018 Scorecard / Result
    • NMAT 2018 Admit Card
    • Category Certificate for students (If Applicable)
    • Address Proof / Domicile Certificate
    • Birth Certificate
    • Class 10 Marksheet / Matriculation - Certificate
    • Class 12 Marksheet / Intermediate - Certificate
    • Degree Certificate / Graduation Marksheet
    • Photocopies of all the certificates
    • Six recent Passport size Photographs
    • Identity Proof (Aadhar Card, Voter ID, License, Passport)
