North Central Railway under Central Government issued notification for Direct recruitment to 18 posts of Constable (Band) in Railway Protection Force (RPF). Interested male candidates should send their applications within 30 days from the publication of the notification in Employment News i.e. till 15 September 2013

Eligibility: Only male citizens of India are eligible to apply against this notification.  The post is identified as not suitable for persons with disabilities. Ex-servicemen holding certificate in military music are eligible.

Educational/Technical qualifications and Experience: Matriculation or equivalent +2 years experience in operational use of specified musical instrument.
The candidates must have knowledge and capacity to play at least one of the instruments mentioned.

Age limit: Between 18 years and 27 years (as on 15 September 2013)
Upper age limit relax-able for government servants up to the age of 40 years (General candidates), up to 43 (OBC candidates) and up to 45 years (SC / ST candidates)

Height: 165 cms    
Chest – Normal: 80 cms    
Chest - Expanded: 85 cms

Height: 160 cms    
Chest – Normal: 76.2 cms    
Chest - Expanded: 81.2 cms

Note: Minimum chest expansion of 5 cms is essential.

Recruitment Process: Recruitment will be done through a multi-stage process that will include Physical Efficiency Test, Written Test, Trade Test, Document verification and Medical examination.

Physical Efficiency Test (PET): PET will be qualifying in nature and have been following events:

Event and Minimum Qualifying standard
400 meters race:1 minute 20 seconds
Shot Put (16 lbs):  20 feet
Long Jump:12 feet

Written Test: Candidates qualifying the PET and found eligible with respect to height and chest (both unexpanded and expanded) measurements, will be allowed to appear for a 25 mark OMR-based written test having 50 objective type questions of ½ (half) mark each. The duration of the test will be 35 minutes.

Examination pattern
Music: 15 questions
General Awareness: 15 questions
General Intelligence: 10 questions
Language (English / Hindi): 10 questions

Trade Test: Candidates qualifying the written test will be subjected to 70 mark Trade test. Candidates will have to bring their-own instrument for the test.

Document verification: Candidates qualifying all the tests will have to come for document verification and produce all original certificates, failing which they will be disqualified

Medical examination: Empanelled candidates will have to pass the prescribed medical test in the nominated Railway Hospital.

Travel Allowance:  SC / ST Candidates will be issued with free travel authority for to-and free travel from the nearest Railway station to the place of recruitment.

Note: The selected candidates are liable to serve anywhere in India. They can be allotted any Zonal Railways / Railway Protection Special Force (RPSF) after selection.

Application fees: Non-refundable application fees of Rs. 50 have to paid through a crossed Indian Postal Order (IPO) or Bank Demand Draft drawn in favour of ‘Financial Advisor & Chief Accounts Officer (FA&CAO), North Central Railway, Allahabad’, payable at ‘Allahabad’.

SC / ST candidates and Ex-servicemen are exempted from payment of application fee.

How to Apply: Interested eligible candidates should send their duly filled in application forms along with attested copies of required documents and fee DD / IPO to ‘IG cum Chief Security Commissioner / RPF, North Central Railway, Post Box No. 1-92, Allahabad, PIN- 211015 (U.P.)’ so as to reach the concerned authority by the prescribed last date.
