Over issue of admission criteria in the national capital, the Aam Aadmi Party had a continuous tussle with the private school managements. In order to address the tussles presently voicing on the foray, the city government has decided to form a three member committee to review the existing policy on aided schools thoroughly in Delhi.
The committee will submit its report to the government of Delhi within two months, by undergoing opinions of various stakeholders that are directly and indirectly associated with the school management. The committee will also take in suggestions and feedbacks from the citizen of the state and other stakeholders through the email account asrcommittee@gmail.com.
The committee will undergo and examination various provisions of the Delhi School Education Act and Rules (DSEAR 73) and come up with recommendations and suggestions. The committee is set up by Department of Education by the directions of Deputy Chief Minister and Education Minister Manish Sisodia. The committee will be chaired by the former Director of Elementary Education Amit Kaushik, Union Ministry of Human Resource Development (HRD), Shashi Kaushal, Special Director (Act- II), Directorate of Education, GNCTD- Member Secretary, and Hemanth Pothula, Education Governance Task Force, Delhi Dialogue Commission.
The government is blamed by the private school managements to be interfering too much in the school matters. They need revoking of stringent laws and regulations passed by the government, regarding the fees of the school and other administrative matters. The teachers on the other hand are complaining about the absence of grievance redressal mechanism in most of the private schools along with ad-hoc decisions from the management.
