Railway Recruitment 2016 for 18252 Posts (CEN 03/2015): How to Prepare?

    The Indian railway is one of the most sought recruitment body after other government organizations by job aspirants. Every year RRBs announce numerous vacancies and conduct examinations for recruitment of fresh talents. This year RRB has released vacancies for 18252 technical and non-technical posts at various Zonal Railways/ Production Units of Indian Railways. Eligible and interested candidates can submit their applications on or before 25 January 2016.

    Selection Procedure of RRB Recruitment (Non-Technical) 2016

    RRBs select the candidates on the basis of their performance in the Written Examination and Interview following the Document Verification. Hence it is very much essential to groom yourself properly before sitting for the examination.

    Examination Pattern of RRB Recruitment (Non-Technical) 2016

    Candidates applying for the job are required to appear for CBT (Computer Based Test) Exam. The test will be of Objective Multiple type and would carry negative marking (1/3) for every wrong answer. It will be in English, Hindi, Urdu and other local languages. The test will cover questions related to General Awareness, Arithmetic, General Intelligence and Reasoning. The CBT exam will be of 90 minute duration and it would consist of 100 questions.

    Tips for Preparation for RRB (Non-Technical) Exam 2016

    General Tips

    Railway exams are very challenging due to the large number of aspirants appearing in the same. Hence, it is very much required to prepare meticulously for the examination.

    The following points can be considered helpful for the preparation of exam:

    • Clear the basic concepts as quick as possible. Don’t indulge in solving practice papers/ test papers directly. Nothing can help you at all, if you are not clear with the basic and fundamental concepts. So, clear your basic concept first and then step forward to attempt mock papers.
    • Manage time properly. Proper time schedule can lead to great results. Prepare a daily study routine and follow it. Divide the entire 24 hours for self study, practice and revision.
    • Know your syllabus properly. Instead of drowning yourself into numerous books and study materials, prepare as per the prescribed syllabus.

    Aptitude: Solving these questions requires immense critical thinking and reasoning skills. The key area is to understand the nature of the questions. This section includes questions related to arrangement problems, series problem, data interpretation and age related problems.     Arithmetic: If you have a good background in Mathematics at secondary level, then this will be the easiest-to-crack section for you. Questions in this section are related to time, distance and speed, HCF and LCM, Simple and Compound Interest, Profit and Loss, etc. Basically the grip over primary and secondary level mathematics is required.

    General Awareness: Keep in mind the world around you! For securing good marks in this section, you need to go through the day-to-day happening around you. A good newspaper is a savior in this regard! Questions in this section are related to the general topics like:- politics, entertainment, sports, books and many other things.

    General Intelligence: In the section of General Intelligence questions are asked common and basic in nature. Practicing with any standard text book and developing problem solving skills are required to attempt these questions.
