Rajasthan State Open School (RSOS) was started in 2005 under Rajasthan Institute Registration Act 1958 as an autonomous organisation by Government of Rajasthan. The open school of Rajasthan is based in Jaipur. RSOS was started for private students who want to attain higher education at secondary and senior secondary levels. The open schools specially strives to help continue education for girls and women, rural youth, working men and women, SC & ST, differently abled persons and other disadvantaged persons who could not complete it under regular schooling.
Features of Rajasthan State Open School –
- The open school board has more than 476 Accredited Institutions (AI’s) as study centres for providing classes to every region in Rajasthan state.
- RSOS provides courses through distance and open learning system at secondary and senior secondary level examinations.
- Moreover, the RSOS conducts examinations up to class 12th in collaboration with other educational institutions like National Institutes of Open Schooling (NIOS).
- The Council of Boards of School Education (COBSE) has approved RSOS examination for Class 10th and Class 12th with equivalent to the exams of other boards & universities of India like CBSE and NIOS etc.
RSOS Admissions:
Eligibility and age limit:
For the students seeking admissions to secondary and senior secondary levels of RSOS, there is no upper age limit for admission. However, the students must be at least 14 years of age for Class 10th and minimum 15 years of age for Class 12th enrolment.

RSOS Transfer of Credit:
- The students who want to complete their higher education at secondary and senior secondary level from RSOS can also get their credits transferred from other board of education (under which they were earlier studying) under the facility of ‘Transfer of Credit (TOC)’ for up to two subjects.
- This facility is provided to students who passed from the selected 73 boards as recognised by RSOS.
- Also the subjects for TOC must be available under RSOS scheme of studies.
RSOS Choice of Subjects:
There are 17 subjects for Class 10th and 21 subjects for Class 12th. The Subjects can be selected by students from the group of subjects as under –

RSOS Examinations:
The open school board of Rajasthan State follows a semi-annual examination pattern i.e. the exams are conducted two times a year.
The exams are conducted from March-May and from October to November every year.
The students who have registered for the first time i.e. in stream 1 admission can appear for exam in March-May session next year. And, the students who are registered under stream 2 can appear for October-November examinations in the same year and also, in March-May examination next year.

The students who want to complete their education from Rajasthan State Open School are required to pay admission fee for the courses as mentioned in the table below. The total course fee for RSOS secondary and senior secondary level includes registration fee, cost of study material, Personal Contact Programme (PCP), and fee for evaluation of Tutor Marked Assignments as well as annual examination fees.

The results of RSOS are announced on the official website only. The results of RSOS are announced in a month after conduct of March-May examination and October-November examinations.
