On Tuesday, the QS World University Rankings were out and revealed that no Indian varsity is ranked among the top 200 global universities. Approximately, 11 Indian universities are listed under 800 global varsities where IIT Delhi is having the highest ranking that is 222. Two other Indian university ranked among the top 300 global varsity list are IIT Bombay (233) and IIT Kanpur (295). IIT Madras is placed on 313 rank while IIT Kharagpur ranked at 346.
This is a bad news for Indian Although IITS rank among 800 top global universities in the list of QS World University Rankings, the majority of them have fallen from its place attained in 2012. For example, IIT Delhi has fallen from its rank 212 to 222. Similarly, IIT Bombay knocks down from 227 to 233, IIT Kanpur falls from 278 to 295 and IIT Madras from 312 to 313. Only varsity that has enhanced its ranking in the list is an IIT Kharagpur which previously placed at 349 and now it ranked at 346.

The QS World University Rankings are deprived from four key pillars that are research, employability, teaching, and internationalization. The methodology comprises of six indicators that include academic reputation (40%), student faculty ratio (20%), employer reputation (10%), international faculty (5%), international students (5%) and citations per faculty (20%).
Globally, MIT headed the list for the second year in a row, followed by Harvard and Cambridge.
The countries having better performance in terms of the number of universities placed where the US (144), UK (69), Germany (42), France (40) and Japan (38).
