A Reserve Bank of India (RBI) panel has suggested to conduct a national- level common Banking Aptitude Test (BAT) for bank personnel at entry levels. The aptitude of candidates for banking will be judged according the BAT Scores. It is mandatory but will not be deemed as the only criteria for selection as bank employee.
The BAT can be conducted either ‘on demand’ or at particular duration during every year, depending on operational ease. Presently, aside from IBPS CWE, different banks also conduct their own recruitment exams; the BAT is considered as a national level, uniform standard setting exercise in partnership with all banks; all banks can subscribe to and participate in the design and adoption of BAT as their common basic filter for recruitment.
The common banking aptitude test (BAT) might be designed on the “Item Response Theory” method of testing rather than the recent “Classical Test Theory” testing methodology to better set apart and evaluate candidates aspiring for careers in banking.
