The committee which has approved the project is headed by Union Secretary of Higher Education Satyanarayan Mohanty. The proposal got accepted under the Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA), under which almost 200 universities are planned to crop up in the nation.

RUSA is a central-sponsored scheme which was launched back in the year 2013. The aim of RUSA was to provide funding to eligible State Higher Education Institutions to further make developments in the education system at different states. The State Government till date has received well over 126 crore under RUSA which includes the 25 crore rupees which is allotted for the development of RD Women’s College as a Women’s university.
