RRC Chennai notifies 16 vacancies under Cultural quota and Scouts & Guides Quota

    Railway Recruitment Cell (RRC), Southern Railway, Chennai under Ministry of Railways, Government of India issued notification inviting application for recruitment to 16 posts – 2 against Cultural Quota and 14 against Scouts & Guides Quota for the year 2013 – 2014. The vacancies are with the Chennai, Tiruchchirappalli, Madurai, Palakkad, Salem and Thiruvananthapuram Divisions. Interested candidates should send their applications till 23 December 2013.

    Last Date for Receipt of Applications: 23 December 2013 (till 1700 hours)

    7 January 2014 (1700 hours) (for residents of Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal

    Pradesh, Mizoram, Nagaland, Tripura, Sikkim, Jammu & Kashmir, Lahul & Sipti Districts and Pangi Sub-division of Chamba District of Himachal Pradesh, Andaman & Nicobar And Lakshadweep Islands and those residing abroad)

    Division: Southern Railway

    Quota: Cultural Quota and Scouts & Guides Quota

    Total Vacancies: 16 posts

    Pay Scale: Pay Band of Rs. 5200 – 20200 with Grade Pay of Rs. 1900 / Rs. 1800.

    Quota-wise vacancy details

    1. Cultural Quota: 2 posts (male / female)
    Discipline-wise vacancy details
    a. Classical Dance: 1 post (male  / female);
    b. Instrumental – Veena: 1 post (male  / female);

    2. Scouts & Guides Quota: 14 posts
    Grade Pay-wise vacancy details:
    a. Grade Pay Rs. 1900: 2 posts
    b. Grade Pay Rs. 1800: 12 posts

    Division-wise vacancy details:
    i. Chennai Division: 2 posts
    ii. Tiruchchirappalli Division: 2 posts
    iii. Madurai Division: 2 posts
    iv. Palakkad Division: 2 posts
    v. Salem Division: 2 posts
    vi. Thiruvananthapuram Division: 2 posts

    Age Limit: (as on 1 January 2014)

    for Grade Pay Rs. 1900

    Minimum: 18 years
    Maximum: 30 years

    for Grade Pay Rs. 1800

    Minimum: 18 years
    Maximum: 33 years

    Upper age limit is relax-able by 3 years for OBC category candidates and by 5 years for SC / ST category candidates.

    Educational Qualification

    For Cultural Quota: Degree/ Diploma/ Certificate in Music with relevant experience in the field and given performance on AIR / Doordarshan etc.

    For Scouts & Guides Quota: A President’s Scout / Guide / Ranger / Rover (or) Himalayan Wood Badge Holder (or) A pre-HWB trained Scout Leader / Advanced Trained Guider / Leader / Captain; should be an active member of a Scouts organization for at least 3 years and have attended at least one event at National level and in one / two events at the state level.

    for Grade Pay Rs. 1800: Matriculate or ITI or equivalent

    For both Cultural Quota and Scouts & Guides Quota:

    for Grade Pay Rs. 1900: Matriculate (for non-technical categories) OR ITI / Act Apprenticeship ( for technical posts)

    Selection Procedure

    For Cultural Quota: Selection will be done on the basis of candidates’ performance in the Written Test and the assessment of their talent through practical demonstration and testimonials & prizes won.

    For Scouts & Guides Quota: Selection will be done on the basis of candidates’ performance in the Written Test and the assessment of their scouts & guides qualifications and their performance in the Personality test / Interview.

    Candidates recommended for appointment will have to pass the requisite medical fitness standards prescribed for the posts to be identified by the Southern Railway administration.

    Candidates will have to choose one of the following languages and indicate the same in the Application Form: Hindi / Urdu / English / Tamil / Malayalam / Kannada / Telugu.

    There will be negative marking for wrong answers In Written Examination.

    Candidate shall attend the Written Examination / Document Verification / Interview / Personality Test / Medical Examination at the date, time and venue specified by Railway administration.

    Travel Expenses: SC / ST candidates will be issued II-Class Free Pass for their journey from their nearest Railway Station to the venue of Written Examination / Document Verification / Medical Examination.

    Examination Fee: Examination fees of Rs. 40 have to paid for posts with Grade pay of Rs. 1900 and of Rs. 100 for posts with Grade pay of Rs. 1800. The fees can be paid either through a crossed Demand Draft (DD) or Indian Postal Order (IPO), drawn in favour of ‘Assistant Personnel Officer / Recruitment’, payable at Chennai.

    Candidates should mention their Name and address at the back of the DD or in the space provided in the IPO.

    SC / ST / Ex- Serviceman, PWD, female, Minority, and EBC category candidates are exempted from payment of Examination fees.

    How to Apply: Interested eligible candidates should send their application, in the prescribed format, along with attested copies of required enclosures to ‘The Assistant Personnel Officer/ Recruitment, Railway Recruitment Cell, Southern Railway, III Floor, No.5, Dr. P.V.Cheian Crescent Road, Egmore, Chennai-600 008’ so as to reach the concerned authority on or before 23 December 2013 (by 1700 hours).

    Applications can be directly dropped in the applications box kept in the office premises of RRC, Chennai at the mentioned address on or before the closing date and time.

    On the envelope, candidates should super-scribe “Application for Recruitment against Cultural Quota” or “Application for Recruitment against Scouts & Guides Quota Grade Pay of Rs. 1900” or “Application for Recruitment against Scouts & Guides Quota Grade Pay of Rs. 1800”.
