The UK has offered Indian students an opportunity to grab 370 scholarships worth Rs 10 crore. This scholarship scheme, announced on 31 January 2014, is a part of the ongoing GREAT Britain campaign, aimed at boosting UK’s global reputation.
The scholarships can be availed by Indian students by applying to 260 undergraduate and postgraduate courses such as engineering, law and business, art and design, biosciences and information technology spread in 36 universities situated in UK. The scholarships will remain valid only for the September 2014 and January 2015 student intakes.

However, the UK's Higher Education Statistics Agency last year revealed that a 25% drop in the admissions from Indian students in academic session 2012-13 were seen, as compared to its previous year.
This scholarship scheme will bring Indian students back to the UK as earlier times.
Paul Sellers, south India director of British Council, informed that an Education UK exhibition held in Chennai on February 3, 2014 where delegates from 60 UK higher educational institutions came to participate in the expo.
