The School of Management, Pondicherry University entered into a landmark agreement of International Co-operation with the Graduate School of Management, University of Rennes 1 located in France on 15.07.2016 at a function held in the EC Hall in the campus. The MoU Document was signed by the Registrar of Pondicherry Varsity Prof. M. Ramachandran and Dr. Laurent Bironneau, Dean, Graduate School of Management, University of Rennes 1 in the presence of Prof. G. Anjaneya Swamy, Dean, School of Management, Pondicherry University, Dr. Marc Gaugain, Director of International Affairs, Graduate School of Management, University of Rennes 1 & the French Coordinator of the Agreement of Cooperation, Dr. Y. Venkata Rao, Head of Tourism Studies Department and Coordinator of the collaborative endeavour representing Pondicherry University, Heads, Faculty members, Scholars, and Students of SOM.
The agreement will be of far-reaching implications for both the premier institutions in strengthening and advancing research and educational collaboration in fields which are compatible with the orientation of each institution and which are relevant to the industrial, social and cultural interests and needs of the respective countries. The initiative will commence through student and faculty exchange. One of the highlights of the Agreement based on reciprocity is that students participating in the exchange will not be charged tuition fee by the host institutions.
In accordance with the MoU students will be registered as exchange students on a transfer of credits basis, spending one semester at the partner university. As regards faculty exchange, the institutions will encourage their faculty members to teach at the partner university and also for research purposes. The collaboration will also configure funding support for research projects and joint organization of international conferences.
