Score more in SSC CGL Tier I 2016 with GA section!

    Staff Selection Commission (SSC) conducts graduate level exam for recruitment to various posts in central government departments/ministries. SSC is all set to conduct the Combined Graduate Level (CGL) Examination, 2016 (Tier-I) on SUNDAY the 8th & 22nd May, 2016. The Tier I Exam Question Paper will include 200 multiple choice objective type questions. Each section will have 50 questions with negative marking of .25 marks for each wrong answer.

    Importance of General Awareness in SSC CGL Tier I: - This section is very important to gain good marks in the examination as candidates can solve large number of question in very short time.  

    It aims to test the ability of candidate’s the general knowledge of Science, History, Geography, Polity, and Economics. Questions will also be designed to test knowledge of current events and of such matters of everyday observation and experience in their scientific aspects as may be expected of an educated person. The test will also include questions relating to Sports and Scientific Research.

     Questions are asked in this section are basically focused on India and its neighboring countries. There is no need to read World History and World Geography. SSC also mentioned in its notification that these questions will be such that they do not require a special study of any discipline.

    Therefore, to prepare for this section, a candidate has to take into consideration all these topics and should try to ensure a fair amount of knowledge of the same.

    Distribution of question asked from General Awareness in previous years: It is noticed in recent years that in this section SSC asked highest number of question from General science. So candidates should more focus on General Science. General science has three basic branches viz; Physics, Chemistry and Biology. NCERT science of class 6 to class 10 books is the best source to prepare General science. The distribution of questions asked from General science is as follows:

    In order to prepare General Awareness section candidates are advised to take the help of NCERT books of class 6 to class 10. Candidates are also advised to check the online SSC portal of Jagranjosh for current affairs and overall general awareness section.

    Here are some tips and strategies related to General Awareness, which will help the students to score well in the examination.

    Understand the Syllabus Well:  Whether you are a first time candidate appearing for the examination or have an experience in giving the exam, you should at first have a clear idea about the syllabus and the examination pattern. Study and analyze the syllabus three four times with a preconceived notion that you have completed all the topics. This makes preparation easier for an aspirant.

    Analyze the expected trend:  To crack any examination, it is necessary to know the expected trend of the upcoming examination. Question Papers are the best ways to understand the minds of the question paper setters. So candidates should analyze previous year papers and aware about which kind of question asked in previous year and which subjects or topic covers maximum numbers of question. After knowing the trend candidate can prepare accordingly.

    SSC tends to repeat questions: It is prevalent truth that SSC tends to repeat questions in all sections so if candidate solve at least last 10 previous papers of SSC, there are better chances of scoring higher marks.

    Keep an eye on latest happenings: The candidates should keep an eye on latest happenings and read a daily newspaper to keep them updated with latest news. Aspirants should also thoroughly learn and revise policies, programs, latest updates in economy to score well in the section.

    Make revision Plan: Prepare notes of important topics and revise them meticulously to keep yourselves perfect in General Awareness.
