The Board of Secondary Education, Assam (SEBA), is planning to evaluate Class X State Board Examinees mark sheets on CBSE guidelines.
The State Board is in a plan to bring the new system of evaluation in which the marks obtained by the students of Class X in their Formative and Summative assessment throughout the year will be taken into consideration while compiling the final Mark Sheets, as said by a SEBA official.
SEBA’s Secretary Abir Hazarika says that,” For its State Board students SEBA has already agreed on including NCERT books in its curriculum. The next step is to follow the system as adopted by the CBSE in evaluation of their scripts. A final shape to this will be given after we go through all the formalities and talk to student bodies.”
“The proposal was discussed by the SEBA with the CBSE officials”, he added.
In present scenario, only the Board exam marks are recorded on the mark sheets of Class X Students. Whereas, in the mark sheets of CBSE Class IX and X Students, the four Formative Assessments and two Summative Assessments are given the weightage.
Many parents and Students of Class X have already got confused because of this proposal. Since the 2014 – 15 sessions have already started in schools following SEBA curriculum, students are worried that a sudden change in reforms might affect their career.
Hazarika said,” The possibility for the introduction of CBSE model of evalution will be from the 2015 – 16 academic year. He also said that, “Reforms are always needed for better education prospect. Everything will be done step-wise and we are not in a hurry.”
As per a senior official of SEBA, the infrastructure of the State- run government schools can pose hurdles for the introduction of this new evaluation process.”
