Jan 18, 2013 15:58 IST

The South Delhi Municipal Corporation issued show causes notices to the Delhi University, South Campus and Jamia Millia Islamia on pending property tax dues on 17 January 2013.

The South Campus owes over 2 crores, while Jamia Millia is under a 2.5 crore radar as property tax to the civic body.

According to the provisions of the Section 155 and 156 of the DMC Act, 1957, if the payments are not made within the next three days of the receipt of this notice, necessary action will be taken and the amount would be recovered in the form of attachment and sale of moveable and immoveable properties, as per a statement from the civic body.

Apparently, the civic body will be soon issuing notices to all government and non government institutions under the jurisdiction to gain back or recover maximum property taxes.
