Candidate must possess Scouting / Guiding Qualification.
Scouting / Guiding qualifications (Applicable for both Group C & Group D vacancies):
(a) Candidate should be a President’s Scouts / Guides /Ranger / Rover, OR Himalayan Wood Badge holder OR
a Pre-HWB trained Scout Leader/Advanced trained Guide/Leader/Captain.
(b) Candidate should have been an active member of a Scout Organization for at least 3 years in the recent past and should continue to be active.
(c) Should have attended at least one event at National level and one or two events at State level OR should have a good record of participation in Scouts/Guides activities at Unit / District level.
Candidates will be subjected to medical examination by Railway medical authority prior to their appointment after due selection.
A non-refunable examination fee of Rs.40 (for UR and OBC candidates) should be paid in the form of Crossed Demand Draft from any nationalized Bank, Payable at Kolkata or Crossed Indian Postal Order from any post office payable at GPO / Kolkata.
Bank Draft / IPO should be drawn in favour of FA & CAO / S.E.Railway / Garden Reach and issued after the date of this notification.
[SC/ST, Persons With Disabilities (PWD), women, minority candidates (Muslims, Christians, Sikhs, Buddhists & Zorastrians [Parsis]), candidates belonging to economically backward classes (with family income < Rs.50,000/- p.a.) need not pay this fee.]

Mode of Selection:
The recruitment process consists of Written Examination followed by Personality test / Interview. Only those candidates who fulfill the eligibility conditions will be called for the written test.
Candidates will have to appear for a written test on a particular date followed by viva-voce. A common written test for Group-‘D’ post will be held in all divisions including Head Quarters. The Question paper will be bilingual -- in English and Hindi. Candidates will have the option to answer in any of the two languages.
i)The Written Test will comprise of 50 objective type questions of one mark each (total 50 marks) relating to Scouts & Guides organization and its activities as per specified syllabus outlined Category-wise for Group ‘C’ and Group ‘D’;
ii) 35 marks for Scouts/Guides qualification (with event-wise distribution); and
iii) 15 marks for Personality test / Interview.
Total 100 marks.
The tentative date for written Test for Group D posts is 15-12-2012 and for Group ‘C’ posts is 22-12-2012.
Note: Selected candidates for Group ‘C’ posts and selected candidates of Central District (HQ) against Group ‘D’ posts will be posted any where over South Eastern Railway where vacancies are available.
