On Friday, Supreme Court ordered a halt to further JEE Advanced counseling and admissions to IITs.
Bench headed by Dipak Misra and A M Khanwilkar also said that no high court in the country will entertain any petition related to counseling and admissions to the IITs from today onwards.
According to the revised final answer keys, out of 18 bonus marks to be awarded, a total of 7 marks have been given to the students who appeared for Paper 1(Chemistry and Mathematics section) and the remaining 11 bonus marks were given to 3 questions of Physics and Mathematics. Bonus marks were given due to printing inconsistency in JEE Advanced 2017 question paper.
A petition was filled by IIT aspirant Aishwarya Agarwal on June 30, the Supreme court sought Centre Government’s response on plea seeking rejection of the IIT Joint Examination 2017 rank list and awarding of bonus marks to all candidates who appeared in the test.
The petition had sought the Supreme Court’s direction that the decision and action of awarding bonus marks to the candidates appeared in JEE Advanced 2017 was wrong.
It also sought a direction for all India rank list after rectifying the scores of JEE Advanced and also to award the marks for the incorrect questions to those candidates who has attempted the right answers. Petitioner said that fresh examination is to be conducted and to prepare a fresh merit list or to grant all students another opportunity to appear in the examination that is going o be conducted in the next year.
