5. Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur

Established in 1959, Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur is one of the first five IIT's to be setup in India. It was created with assistance of a consortium of nine leading research universities of the United States. IIT Kanpur also enjoys the distinction of being the first institute in India to offer a course in the field of Computer Science.
