Ask any student from the Science stream about their plan after Class 12th and the mostly likely answer will be- Engineering. But when you ask them which engineering college they are planning to join, only a few will have a definite answer. This is because increasing number of engineering colleges in India has made the decision that much more difficult for the students.

As a solution to this problem, the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) has launched NIRF i.e. National Institutional Ranking Framework. This framework follows a unique methodology of ranking educational institutes in different disciplines including Engineering. The methodology includes parameters such as:

MHRD’s National Institutional Ranking Framework – Parameters

  • Teaching, Learning & Resources (TRL)
  • Research & Professional Practice (RP)
  • Graduation Outcomes (GO)
  • Outreach and Inclusivity (OI)
  • Perception

Based on the above five parameters, the HRD ministry ranks different engineering colleges and institutes. So, let's have a look at the top engineering colleges in India for 2018 as per the MHRD’s NIRF Engineering Ranking 2018.
