Established in 1912, the King George’s Medical University, Lucknow is one of the oldest medical colleges in India. The college was started under the banner of King George's Medical College which was renamed to ChhatrapatiShahujiMaharaj Medical University before being given the current name in 2002. The medical college is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the Medical Council of India (MCI). The Christian Medical College was established in 1900 as one of the first medical colleges of the country. The College is a private research institute based in Vellore, Tamil Nadu.
