Soon after University Grants Commission asked Delhi University to review the decision of four year undergraduate programme, the UGC chairperson Ved Prakash also came forward to write directly to the vice-chancellor, Dinesh Singh, asking to work faster with the review process.
After receiving letter from UGC Chairperson, DU is not left with many options, as told by sources from UGC.
According to the sources, the matter was to be dealt directly between the heads instead of senior officials, as per what was decided. The letter on Monday was sent to DU registrar Alka Sharma.
One of the UGC official said that few more days shall be given to DU to decide on revision of FYUP, the next action will depend on the response of varsity.
The insiders in DU have informed that the VC is trying various desperate attempts to talk into the government and the ruling establishment and convincing them about the effectiveness of FYUP.
A senior history Faculty member said that the VC also reached out to few senior RSS leaders. His plans include introducing Vedic studies in the academic council meeting of 21 June 2014.
