The University Grants Commission (UGC) has recently conferred an autonomous status to the 121-year-old Khalsa College Amritsar (KCA).  The KCA is the first Guru NanakDev University affiliated college in the state to have bestowed with an autonomous status.
Khalsa College governing council president Satyajit Singh Majithia said that the institute would like to collaborate with top educational institutions across the world to meet the new academic requirements.
Taking pride of the matter, he further stated that with this autonomy the college would have more academic independence, more financial security with timely funds from UGC and more freedom in framing new syllabi, courses or enhancing number of seats in various courses. The college would always be open to tie up with top educational institutions and colleges around the world, and would also launch the distance learning programs in coming days, added Mr. Majithia.
