Uniform Education Policy for Regional Languages over the Nation

    The Government of India is undergoing through the formulation of the New Education Policy which has included online, grassroots and national level thematic deliberations and discussions over the 33 themes suggested by the HRD ministry. One of the themes under School Education is promotion of language and one under the Higher Education domain is promotion of cultural integration through language. In order to make it possible to have a free and fair consultation process in the grassroots level, the survey question templates have been translated to 12 regional languages with the help of NCERT.

    The Central Advisory Board on Education (CABE) has discussed intensively about the consultation process over the New Education Policy which is to be formulated in the month of August. On the consultation process, all the themes were discussed and views of all the states and CABE members were invited. For the formulation of the New Education Policy, suggestions from people in village, block, district to state level is being gathered by the responsible authority. All the states have also been asked to submit their views, comments, reports and recommendations formulated through the survey conducted on various levels regarding the New Education Policy.

    The Ministry of HRD in Eastern, Central, North Easter, Western, Southern and Northern zones have so far conducted six zonal meetings covering all the states and union territories during September-October, 2015. Education Ministers and education officials from the states have taken part in the meetings organized by the ministry. During the zonal meetings, the regional languages and its uniformity were discussed.
