The UP Board has decided to do away with closed circuit television (CCTV) cameras in high school and intermediate exams in 2016. The board, has however, said that school managements were free to install the same through their resources to check mass copying.
The world's largest exam conducting body, which is currently busy identifying examination centres, attributed the decision to absence of government directive on the issue.
CCTV camera in examination hall was among a number of measures announced to curb mass copying in the state. Centre head was expected to bear the cost of installation of CCTVs. Two static cameras were to be installed in every class with one covering half of class and other the remaining part. A screen too had to be set up in schools to monitor activities on campus.
In 2015, at least 34, 95,974 students had appeared in high school exam at 11,166 centres, while 29, 19,628 students had written intermediate exams at 10,341 centres. Registration process has already started for high school and intermediate exams for 2016.
