UP Board Class 11th English Syllabus 2018-19

Find the revised syllabus of English subject for UP Board Class 12 academic session 2018-2019.

Since last year students of class 12th UP Board were supposed to take two written exam of English subject where each paper comprising of 50 marks, but now due to syllabus change, students of UP Board class 12 have to give only one written exam comprising of 100 marks with the time duration of 3 hours.

The key contents of the syllabus: UP Board Class 12th English paper:

1. Name of the Units and their Weightage in Board Exam.

2. Details of topics and sub-topics to be covered in each unit.

अंग्रेजी इस विषय में 50-50 अंकों के दो प्रश्न-पत्र होंगे। प्रत्येक प्रश्न-पत्र तीन घण्टे का होगा।

प्रथम प्रश्न-पत्र (पूर्णांक-50)

1. Prose- (20 अंक) 
   (a) Explanation with reference to context (one passage in English). (4)
   (b) One passage for testing comprehension-factual as well as interpretative and evaluative type (4) 
   (c) Two short answer type questions (not to exceed 30 words) (2+2=4)
   (d) One long answer type question from text (answer not to exceed 150 words) (6)
   (e) Vocabulary (based on text) (2)
2. Story- (7 अंक) 
   (a) One long answer type question (answer not to exceed 150 words) (5) 
   (b) One short answer type question (30 words) (2)
3. Poetry- (19 अंक)
   (a) Explanation with reference to context two passages in English from poems (8) (b) General or Central idea of any one poem (4) 
   (c) Long answer type question on long poem (7)
4. Figures of speech- (4 अंक) 
   (Simile, Metaphor, Personification, Apostrophe, Oxymoron, Onomatopoeia, Hyperbole —)

द्वितीय प्रश्न–पत्र (पूर्णाक 50)

General English

1. (a) Direct-Indirect (2) 
   (b) Synthesis (2) 
   (c) Transformation (2) 
   (d) Syntax (correction of sentences to test the knowledge of syntax) (2)
2. Idioms and Phrases (3)
3. Vocabulary: (4) 
   (a) Synonyms

   (d) One word substitution
4. Translation
   (a) Hindi to English (10) 
   (b) English to Hindi (5)
   अथवा
   किसी संक्षिप्त पद्यांश का सारांश, किसी गद्यांश का संक्षिप्त विवरण, अंग्रेजी में व्यवहार किये जाने वाले शब्दों (इंगलिश यूसेज) का वाक्यों में प्रयोग, वाक्यों में व्याकरण सम्बन्धी अशुद्धियों का संशोधन—
   अथवा
   1500 ई० के बाद के अंग्रेजी साहित्य (वेल एण्ड कम्पनी द्वारा प्रकाशित हेडसन द्वारा संचालित ऐन आउट लाइन ऑफ इंगलिश लिटरेचर के अनुसार) (15)
5. Essay (10)
6. Letter writing/Application (5)
7. Unseen Passages-Prose. (5) 
   इसके अंक विभाजन निम्नवत् होंगे-
   (a) Comprehension question (2) 
   (b) Meaning of underlined portion.(1)
   (c) Summary of the unseen piece together with its heading (½ & ½)

नोट– जनसंख्या, पर्यावरण, स्वास्थ्य शिक्षा तथा ट्राफिक रूल्स की जानकारी हेतु निबंध के रूप मे प्रश्न पूछे जायेंगे।

निर्धारित पाठ्य वस्तु–

अंग्रेजी विषय के लिये निम्नांकित पाठ्य-वस्तु (माध्यमिक शिक्षा परिषद् द्वारा निर्धारित अंश) का अध्ययन करना होगा
