NDA 2023 Exam: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) published the notification for the candidates who are interested to join the defence through the National Defence Academy & Naval Academy (I) Exam 2023. UPSC NDA Application Form is now available on the official website i.e. upsc.nic.in. Female and Male candidates have to apply for UPSC NDA Exam 2023 much before 10 January 2023 on upsconline.nic.in. The candidates can also withdraw their application between 18 January and 24 January 2023.
This year the commission has notified a total of 395 vacancies under the National Defence Academy and Naval Academy. It is to be noted that, only males are eligible for Naval Academy.
UPSC NDA 1 Exam for all the candidates will be held on 16 April 2023. Candidates who clear the exam will get admission to the Army, Navy and Air Force wings of the NDA for the 151st Course, and for the 113th Indian Naval Academy Course (INAC). The course will commence from 02 Jan 2024

How to Apply for NDA Exam 2023 ?
- Go to UPSC Online website upsconline.nic.in. It is essential for the applicant to register
himself/herself first at One Time Registration (OTR) platform, available on the Commission’s website - After registration, he/she has to login (by Email ID/ Mobile Number/ OTR ID) to verify the already registered OTR application.
- Go to the Latest Notification tab in the OTR application.
- Apply for desirable Examination.
- Fill the details
- Upload the documents
- Pay Application Fee

UPSC NDA 2023 Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification:
- For Army Wing of National Defence Academy - The candidates should be 12th passed candidates of the 10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent examination conducted by a State Education Board or a University.
- For Air Force and Naval Wings of National Defence Academy and for the 10+2 Cadet Entry Scheme at the Indian Naval Academy - Students should 12th passed with Physics and Mathematics of the 10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent conducted by a State Education Board or a University.
UPSC NDA 2023 Age Limit:
Only unmarried male/female candidates born not earlier than 02nd July, 2004 and not later than 1st July, 2007 are eligible
UPSC NDA 2023 Selection Method
There will be two rounds. Candidates who apply for the exam will be called for the following:
- Written Exam - 900 Marks
- SSB Interview - 900 Marks
UPSC NDA Exam Pattern 2023
The first round of selection is a written exam. The candidates can check the details related to the exam in the table below:

UPSC NDA Syllabus 2023
- ENGLISH (Code No. 01) - The question paper will be designed to test the candidates’ understanding of
English and workmanlike use of words. - GENERAL KNOWLEDGE (Code No. 02) - General Knowledge including knowledge of current events and of such matters of everyday observation and experience in their scientific aspects as may be expected of
an educated person who has not made a special study of any scientific subject. The paper will also include questions on History of India and Geography of a nature which candidate should be able to answer without special study. - ELEMENTARY MATHEMATICS (Code No. 03) - Athmatic, Algebra, Trignometry, Geometry, Mensration, Statistics, Intelligence and Personality Test,
UPSC NDA Interview 2023
Those who clear the written exam will be called for SSB Interview,The SSB procedure consists of two stages - stage I and stage II.
Stage I - Officer Intelligence Rating (OIR) tests which includes Picture Perception/Description Test (PP&DT). The candidates will be shortlisted based on a combination of performance in the OIR Test and PP&DT.
Stage 2 - Comprises of Interviews, Group Testing Officer Tasks, Psychology Tests and the Conference. These tests are conducted over 4 days. The details of these tests are given on the website joinindianarmy.nic.in.
UPSC NDA Admit Card 2023
The admit cards will be uploaded three weeks before the exam. The candidates are required to download the admit cards from the website of the commission.
UPSC NDA Result 2023
The commission will release a selection list. The selection list consists of roll numbers/name of successful candidates.
