The recent scuffle over increasing the marks of English on the ‘presse writing’ section in the English essay paper by 100, in the Civil Service Examination has now been dropped off.
On the same issue, Narayanaswamy mentioned that the essay paper will now be of two hundred and fifty marks that can be written in the language that the candidate wishes for.
Apart from this change, the earlier practice of incorporating two qualifying papers in any Indian language and English has now been restored.
These two changes have been stated by the Minister of State for Personnel V Narayanaswamy in the Lok Sabha on 21 March 2013.
The Minister stated that these decisions were only taken upon, after the government took into account the views expressed by MPs in Parliament, and consultation with different agencies.
The whole issue started back on 5 March 2013, when The notification that caused a massive stir. It stated the otherwise two hundred Essay paper would be from here on be three hundred.
