Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) released the official notification for the NDA & NA (I) Exam 2016 for recruitment to 375 posts in National Defence Academy (320) and Naval Academy (55). The last date for submission application is 29 January 2016.
National Defence Academy (NDA) & Naval Academy (NA) Examination (commonly known as NDA Exam) is conducted by the UPSC every year to absorb fresher talents into the Army, Navy and Air Force wings. Candidates qualifying the examination are required to undergo four years of BTech course, thereafter an opportunity for joining the Executive and Technical branches.
The examination is held twice every year in April and September for which notifications are released in December/ January and June, respectively. The selection procedure includes, Written Examination, Extensive Interview (conducted by SSB) and Medical Tests.
The eligibility criterion for the examination is 12th Class pass of the 10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent examination conducted by a State Education Board or a University. Candidates awaiting their result or appearing for the qualifying exam can also appear for the NDA & NA Exam.
Cadets (candidates after getting admission are called as cadets) after successfully completing the BTech program are sent to training academies for training (01 year). Training centers of different wings are mentioned below:
- Army Cadets: IMA Dehradun
- Air Force Cadets: AFA, Dundigal, Hyderabad
- Naval Cadets: INA Ezhimala, Kerala
