The Commission will hold a Combined Competitive Examination for recruitment to Grade IV of The Indian Economic Service (IES)/Indian Statistical Service (ISS) on 1st December 2012.
Last Date For Submission Of Applications: The Online Applications – both Part I and Part II – for the exam can be filled up to 1st October, 2012 till 11.59 PM after which the link will be disabled Examination Centre: The examination will be held at -- Ahmedabad, Allahabad, Bangalore, Bhopal, Chandigarh, Chennai, Cuttack, Delhi, Dispur, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Jammu, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Patna, Shillong, Shimla, Thiruvananthapuram.
Number of Vacancies:
(a) Indian Economic Service – 31 posts
(b) Indian Statistical Service – 29 posts (The number of vacancies is tentative.)
[In the Indian Statistical Service, 3 (three) posts have been reserved for PH category candidates (one for Hearing Impairment and two for Locomotive Disability or Cerebral Palsy) . In the Indian Economic Service, One post has been reserved for Blind or Low Vision category.]
Age Limits: Candidates who have attained the age of 21 years (those born on or before 1st August, 1991) and those who have not attained the age of 30 years (those born on or after 2ndAugust, 1982) on 1st August, 2012 are eligible to apply.
Fee: Candidates (except Female/SC/ST/PH candidates) are required to pay a fee of Rs. 200/- (Rupees Two Hundred Only) either by depositing the money in any Branch of State Bank of India by cash, or by using net banking facility of State Bank of India / State Bank of Bikaner and Jaipur / State Bank of Hyderabad / State Bank of Mysore / State Bank of Patiala / State Bank of Travancore or through Visa / Master Credit / Debit Card.
(No fee exemption is available to OBC candidates.)
Educational Qualification:
Indian Economic Service: Postgraduate degree in Economics / Applied Economics / Business Economics / Econometrics from a University / Institute recognized by the government / UGC, or a foreign university approved by the Central Government.
Indian Statistical Service: Post-Graduate degree in Statistics / Mathematical Statistics / Applied Statistics from a University/Institute recognized by the government / UGC, or a foreign university approved by the Central Government.
Final year students / students awaiting results can also apply. Admission of such candidates would be deemed as provisional and subject to cancellation if they do not produce proof of having passed the requisite qualifying examination along with the Detailed Application Form (DAF).
Application procedure:
Candidates are required to apply online through the Commissions’ website www.upsconline.nic.in . Forms submitted through any other mode will not be accepted.
The eligible candidates will be issued an e-Admission Certificate 3 (three) weeks before the commencement of the examination. The e-Admission Certificate will be made available on the UPSC website [www.upsc.gov.in] for downloading. Mere issue of e-Admission Certificate to a candidate does not imply that the candidate‘s candidature has been finally cleared by the Commission.
The applicants are advised to submit only one application. However, if due to any unavoidable situation, a candidate submits another/multiple applications, then the application with the higher RID (Registration ID) will be entertained by the Commission and fee paid against one RID shall not be adjusted against any other RID.
Candidates are not required to submit hard copy of their application to the Commission at this stage.
Those applying for the exam should ensure that they fulfill all the eligibility conditions. Admission at all the stages of examination -- Written Exam and Interview – is purely provisional, subject to candidate satisfying the prescribed eligibility conditions. If during verification it is found that the candidate does not fulfill any of the eligibility conditions then the Commission has the authority to cancel his/her candidature.
The result for the written examination is likely to be declared in the month of July, 2013.
Immediately after declaration of result of the written exam, successful candidates will be asked to submitted Detailed Application Form (DAF) online and send a printout of the DAF along with the attested copies of the required documents / certificates to the Commission.
Documents / certificates whose attested copies are to be attached with the DAF:
1. Certificate of Age.
2. Certificate of Educational Qualification indicating the Subjects.
3. Certificate in support of claim to belong to SC / ST / OBC, where applicable.
4. Certificate in support of claim for age / fee concession, where applicable.
5. Certificate in support of being physically disabled (where applicable).
Originals will have to be produced at the time of interview. During verification, if any of the claims made in the application is found to be incorrect, then the Commission is authorized to initiate action against the candidate.
